Flo Steinberg was one of the earliest publishers of independent comic books, with her underground / alternative hybrid Big Apple Comix in 1975. Additionally, as Stan Lee's Silver Age secretary and as the fledgling Marvel Comics' receptionist, she was a key participant of and witness to Marvel's expansion from a two-person staff to a major pop culture conglomerate.
