Once it wraps up its series of complete "Terry and the Pirates" books, IDW Publishing will give "Little Orphan Annie" the same treatment.
Mullaney told ICv2 that he intends to publish Little Orphan Annie in a similar hardcover format to the one he is using for Terry & the Pirates with the Sunday pages reprinted in full color, though in the case of Little Orphan Annie each volume will contain an entire complete storyline rather than the 2-years-per volume format he is employing for Terry & the Pirates.

The Bay City Rollers are suing their former record label.
The band says in the lawsuit, filed Tuesday, that Arista owes it royalties on millions of dollars. That was money generated by selling albums, compact discs, multimedia licenses and merchandise, along with rights to commercials, movies and even telephone ring tones.

"The Green Hornet" follows the adventures of Brit Reid, a millionaire publisher who moonlights as a masked crime fighter. It started as a radio serial hatched by "Lone Ranger" creators Fran Striker and George Trendle in 1936 -- traveling to comicbook, film and TV by the 1960s -- but recent attempts to develop it for the bigscreen hadn't panned out.
The property had been in development at Universal and Miramax, with Kevin Smith developing it for the latter studio a few years ago (Daily Variety, Feb. 18, 2004). Moritz obtained the film rights and optioned them to Sony, where he's based.

"Traveling Wilburys Volume 1" and "Traveling Wilburys Volume 3" will be available together in one package with bonus tracks and a DVD of rare footage, as a deluxe linen-bound edition, a vinyl set and a digital bundle. The DVD boasts a 24-minute documentary and five music videos.

Complete Terry and the Pirates on the way
Now here's a comic strip well-deserving of the "complete" treatment:
Celebrating the centennial of Milton Caniff ’s birth, IDW Publishing will publish a fully authorized six-book series collecting the entirety of Caniff ’s groundbreaking newspaper adventure strip Terry and the Pirates. The Sunday pages will be reproduced in their original color, alongside the daily black-and-white strips.
No cartoonist has so heavily influenced his medium as has Milton Caniff, and no comic strip has had more imitators than Terry and the Pirates. He is considered the great American novelist of the comics medium.
“In Terry and the Pirates,” wrote Jerry Robinson in The Comics, “all the storytelling techniques of the adventure strip fused and a classic style emerged. Caniff developed and integrated the narrative and its visual expression into a uniform aesthetic balance.” Jules Feiffer noted, “Before Caniff introduced the Dragon Lady to Pat Ryan, before Burma and Raven Sherman and Normandie Drake fell for our hero, there was not a hint of sex to be found in the American newspaper strip. Caniff changed all that.”
Terry and the Pirates provided the vehicle for Caniff’s maturation both as an artist and as a storyteller. He set the strip in exotic China, where historic events then occurring in the region during the 1930s provided the raw material from which he blended fantasy and reality to create an extraordinary graphic narrative. Howard Chaykin, who has written the introduction to Volume One, says, “It’s historically the first, and for my money, greatest example of what we do. The evolution of what Caniff did with Terry in his first year is unbelievable. It’s pure core storytelling.”
The story introduces young Terry Lee, his adult pal Pat Ryan, their sidekick Connie, as well as an array of unforgettable brigands such as Captains Judas and Blaze, and the two toughest women to ever sail on the China Seas: the alluring Burma and the inimitable Dragon Lady.
Volume One, to be published in July, contains more than 800 consecutive strips, from the series’ beginning in October 1934 through the end of 1936. An informed essay provides biographical material, and places Caniff ’s seminal work in the context of both comic strip history and of the real-world events reflected in the stories.
The Complete Terry and the Pirates also launches a new imprint for IDW: The Library of American Comics. “There’s no better comic strip to inaugurate The Library of American Comics than Milton Caniff’s masterpiece,” says series editor and designer Dean Mullaney. “This is the definitive edition of the definitive adventure series (NBM’s long out-of-print collections printed the color in separate volumes from the B&Ws). The books will be oversized, 11” x 8.5” oblong, in order to showcase the richness of Caniff ’s art and storytelling. All Sunday pages have been lovingly restored from the original color pages culled from my private collection, and supplemented by the Cartoon Research Library at Ohio State University.”
Color is essential to Terry. The syndicate had dedicated engravers working on his Sundays. Caniff was thrilled, “I never had a chance like this in my life to do real newspaper color…Right from the start, I started using the most elaborate color schemes I could get.” Future editions will be released on a quarterly schedule.

A new film by animation master Hayao Miyazaki will be out in summer 2008.
Ponyo on a Cliff (Gake no ue no Ponyo), the story of Sasuke, a five-year-old boy , and a Princess Goldfish (Ponyo) that wants to become human. Production on the film began last October and it is slated to be released in the summer of 2008. Miyazaki is creating the storyboards himself in watercolors and it is thought that the feature will be produced in the traditional hand-drawn 2-D manner.

A new Nexus comic by the character's creators Mike Baron and Steve Rude will be out soon. There'll be a Nexus special out on Free Comic Book Day May 5. Then:
Starting in July the series will be back in a burst of monthly issues with Nexus #99, which will be followed in August by the release of the double-size Nexus #100 issue, with Nexus #101 set for September and #102 for October.

For the first time in more than 40 years, good ol' Charlie Brown and the entire PEANUTS gang will be featured in the traditional American comic book format, when Seattle's Fantagraphics Books publishes THE UNSEEN PEANUTS. The last issue of Gold Key Publishing's PEANUTS series, published in 1964, sold for 12 cents. On May 5, 2007, when THE UNSEEN PEANUTS is released, the price will be... FREE!

Comic Ricky Gervais plans to wrap up his "Extras" series with one, final episode.

Russell T. Davies says he'll be producing and writing "Doctor Who" for at least a little while longer.
He dreams up Doctor Who scenes while he's doing his shopping or wandering around Cardiff. 'If I'm stuck I'm more likely to go out to Tesco than go for a long walk,' he says, adding that he 'writes very quickly'. The stories 'are more or less fully formulated by then'.
There may be a few more series of Doctor Who to come, but Davies is obviously pondering his next project. He is a big fan of soaps, and confesses: 'I've always loved Coronation Street. I still think its wonderful. [Its creator] Tony Warren created a whole world. The tone of voice has not changed.'

Comic Ricky Gervais plans to wrap up his "Extras" series with one, final episode.

Russell T. Davies says he'll be producing and writing "Doctor Who" for at least a little while longer.
He dreams up Doctor Who scenes while he's doing his shopping or wandering around Cardiff. 'If I'm stuck I'm more likely to go out to Tesco than go for a long walk,' he says, adding that he 'writes very quickly'. The stories 'are more or less fully formulated by then'.
There may be a few more series of Doctor Who to come, but Davies is obviously pondering his next project. He is a big fan of soaps, and confesses: 'I've always loved Coronation Street. I still think its wonderful. [Its creator] Tony Warren created a whole world. The tone of voice has not changed.'
