New Peanuts comic from Boom! sparks Webwide speculation

Boom! Comics has announced a fresh kids imprint: Kaboom! and is hinting at some upcoming titles under that banner, including one featuring Charles Schultz's Peanuts.

No details outside this teaser art have been revealed to date:

The announcement has some people wondering if this means the Peanuts will be featured in new comic book adventures. That would be a pretty big deal, given that the Schultz estate seems pretty protective of the characters. Afterall, we only see Peanuts reprints in the newspaper, not new strips. I wouldn't envy the creative team endeavoring to create new stories featuring Charlie Brown, et. al.

Maybe Kaboom will be reprinting comic strips, in color, in comic book form? Or maybe these will be all-new creations. We'll see soon enough, I bet.
