Ahmed Emad Eldin, an 18-year-old artist from Egypt, was selected to create the cover of the new Pink Floyd album, The Endless River.

the album is described as a “tribute” to Rick Wright, Pink Floyd’s keyboardist who died in 2008, and features his contributions from 1993 sessions for The Division Bell album, which have been enhanced by David Gilmour and Nick Mason.
Storm Thorgerson, the graphic designer whose surreal covers for Floyd’s classic albums, including Dark Side... immeasurably enhanced the group’s mystique, died last year prompting an international search for an artistic successor.
Aubrey Powell, Thorgerson’s partner in the Hipgnosis design studio, discovered Eldin. Powell said: “When we saw Ahmed’s image it had an instant Floydian resonance. It’s enigmatic and open to interpretation, and is the cover that works so well for The Endless River.”

Margaret Keane's kitschy/creepy/cool "big eye" portraits were a fixture of the 1960s, but her husband Walter took the credit for her work.
This trailer looks promising, as does the film's cast. I haven't seen a Tim Burton movie I've liked since "Ed Wood," but this may be a topic that lends itself to his off-beat sensibility.

Pop focus: Disney artist Mary Blair
Disney wouldn't be Disney without Mary Blair.
As an artist and designer, Blair worked on numerous animated features designing characters and creating backgrounds, and the "It's a Small World" attraction at Disneyland is her artistic style come to life.
Her husband, Lee, was also an artist for the studio.
Some of the Disney films Blair worked on include "Peter Pan," "Cinderella," "Alice in Wonderland" and "Song of the South," along with the animated package films "Saludos Amigos" and "The Three Caballeros."
Blair left Disney in the early 1950 and designed advertising for Nabisco, Maxwell House, Meadow Gold and others, and did artwork for several beloved Golden Books.
At Walt Disney's request, she returned to design art for the "It's a Small World" ride and she also created mural art for Disneyland's Tomorrow Land.
You'll recognize many of her works, and distinctive style, in the images below.
