Corgi Model Club Offers Green Hornet 'Black Beauty' Car

News from Corgi Model Club USA:

We are utterly thrilled to be launching this pre-order of the Green Hornet "Black Beauty" – another fully-licensed Corgi Model Club masterpiece with all the features and gadgets you remember!

Although already known in the USA, the Green Hornet TV show was completely unknown in the UK when Britain’s Corgi Toys introduced the ‘Black Beauty’ into their famed range of die-cast toys in November 1967. Nevertheless, it sold in numbers of excess of 800,000, cementing its status as an iconic 60s-era Corgi Toy. It featured two miniature figures – the crime-fighting Green Hornet in the back seat, who swivelled to fire his Hornet Gun through an open window and his faithful assistant Kato in the driving seat. In the TV show – which was shown on ABC for just a single season in 1966-1967 – Kato was played by the legendary actor Bruce Lee!

On the die-cast model, the chromed front grille lowered to fire a missile and the trunk flipped open to impressively propel a flying ‘radar scanner’ skywards – both features operated by small levers on the side of the model. Presented on a card plinth that housed an instructions leaflet plus spare missiles and radar scanners, the Corgi ‘Black Beauty’ was available until 1972.

Delivery is scheduled for May.

You can pre-order it here.
