Pop Culture Roundup: The bonkers side of Nebula, punk rock Doctor Who, rap at the Smithsonian and more!
ITEM! Analog Planet remembers the Fourth World music of trumpter/composer Jon Hassell, who died this month. I've always been curious about whether Hassell's Fourth World is related to Jack Kirby's at all. I kinda don't think so, but both are fascinating and cool.
ITEM! Former "Doctor Who" star and, apparently, punk rock singer, Peter Capaldi has an album in the works.
ITEM! Speaking of "Doctor Who," the 1967 story "Evil of the Daleks," of which only one episode exists on video is being recreated in animated form.
ITEM! A bunch of people I've not heard of have been cast for Amazon's "Lord of the Rings" series, which I'll totally watch.
ITEM! The Smithsonian has compiled a 129-song rap anthology. For reals!
And that's the world we live in. Goodnight and have a pleasant tomorrow.
