Marvel finally settles with Jack Kirby Estate

No details on the arrangement, but Marvel Comics has finally reached a financial settlement with the Jack Kirby Estate over rights to the many characters Kirby co-created - including Captain America, the Avengers, X-Men, Hulk and Fantastic Four.

The U.S. Supreme Court was to consider taking up the case on Monday, but the settlement sidesteps that potential showdown. According to the New York Times:
Marvel said in a statement: “Marvel and the family of Jack Kirby have amicably resolved their legal disputes and are looking forward to advancing their shared goal of honoring Mr. Kirby’s significant role in Marvel’s history.”
Mr. Kirby died in 1994. Disney directed calls to a Marvel spokesman, who declined to provide additional comment. A lawyer for the Kirby family, Marc Toberoff, and one of the litigants, Neal Kirby, Mr. Kirby’s son, did not respond to email queries.

In 1962, in the pages of a comic book slated for cancellation, Stan Lee and Steve Ditko gave birth to one of the most enduring icons in American popular culture - the one and only Amazing Spider-Man! Turning the concept of a super hero on its head, they imbued the young, guilt-ridden Peter Parker with the fantastic powers of an arachnid and the fantastic pressures of an everyday teenager. The combination was pure magic. With this Epic Collecti on you can leap into Spider-Man's web-slinging world from the very beginning.

The action continues non stop from there as Thor faces the High Evolutionary and his man-beasts, battles Ulik the Troll in the underearth menace's first appearance, and confronts the unstoppable Destroyer! Within days of the murder of President John F. Kennedy, Lyndon B. Johnson appointed a seven-member commission to investigate the assassination. In its report, the Warren Commission determined that there was “no credible evidence” conflicting with its conclusion of a lone gunman. Artist Ernie Colón, bestselling illustrator of The 9/11 Report: A Graphic Adaptation, teams up with author Dan Mishkin to provide a unique means of testing the commission’s findings, unraveling conflicting narratives side by side through graphic-novel techniques. The Warren Commission Report: A Graphic Investigation into the Kennedy Assassination breaks down how decisions in the days that followed the assassination not only shaped how the commission reconstructed events but also helped foster the conspiracy theories that play a part in American politics to this day.
