Fun! Doctor Who and Buffy figures coming from Titans Toys

Here's artwork for 3-inch Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Doctor Who-themed vinyl figures coming from Titans Toys. Each will be sold "blind" and boxed. The Doctor Who figures are set for November release, while the Buffy figures will be out early next year.

Buffy's Juliet Landau to write Drusilla comic series

Juliet Landau, who played the delightfully creepy and unhinged vampiress Drusilla on "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," is penning a five-issue comic book series about her character, reports Entertainment Weekly.
Due to launch in June, the first issue of the spin-off, Landau tells EW, will pick up “literally a panel after” Drusilla’s final appearance in issue No. 9 of the Angel & Faith comic series (out April 25). “I think you will get different sides of Drusilla than have ever been seen before,” she adds, but her lips are sealed for any details on the story beyond that.

Sarah Michelle Gellar: Entertainment Weekly cover and interview

Entertainment Weekly heralds Sarah Michelle Gellar'swelcome return to TV with a cover story about her new series, "Ringer."

She thinks her fans will like Ringer, a smart and sudsy thriller in which she plays twins: Bridget, an ex-stripper on the run from the mob and the FBI, who takes to living as her unhappily married Manhattan socialite twin sister Siobhan after witnessing her sibling’s (apparent) death. Mastering the masquerade means unraveling Siobhan’s wealth of secrets (like an affair with her best friend’s husband) and dodging a mysterious assassin. “Ringer is the perfect balance of what audiences want to see me do,” says Gellar. “It’s Cruel Intentions meets Buffy.”

We'll see, I guess. As a big fan of "Buffy," I really hope it's good, as SMG is a talented actress and fun to watch. But managing to star in two great TV series is a hard trick to pull off.

Buffy turns 30!

Yikes! Guess we're all getting older...

Here's a press release from Dark Horse Comics:

Careful readers may have noticed that the release date of Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 8 #40 has been moved to January 19, 2011. The change in date is no accident. The final issue of the much-talked-about series will hit shelves on the birthday of Buffy Summers. In order to celebrate both the end of Season 8 and the birthday of the beloved character, Dark Horse is proud to announce six Buffy Birthday Parties across the country!

Dark Horse editor Scott Allie had this to say about the event: "It's been a long, strange ride to the end of Buffy's eighth season, and when we realized that her thirtieth birthday fell on a Wednesday, the day new comics go on sale, we realized we had to move our release date to coincide. We're excited to celebrate this landmark occasion and hope we can gather good crowds of Buffy readers and fans together to wish her well as she heads off for Season 9, a little bit older, her head hung low. . . . "

It's hard to believe the vampire slayer is another year older, but time and tide wait for no man, woman, or demon. If, while reading this, you notice your local comic shop is not listed as hosting a party, have the shop's owner contact Dark Horse, and we'll provide them with activity sheets to host their own event.

The following locations will have games, prizes, giveaways, and more for their Buffy Birthday Party! Details vary by location.

Whedon plans more Buffy comics

While he's ruled out a comics series based on his upcoming "Dollhouse" TV series, Joss Whedon says there may be more Buffy comics in his future:

“We definitely have a ['Buffy'] season nine in mind, [but right now] we’re slugging our way through eight. We’ve also talked about doing more ‘Serenity’ comics, and we’ve talked to Dark Horse about a ‘Cabin in the Woods’ tie-in. ‘Dollhouse’ is just the least visual oriented in a genre way and lends itself least to comic books.”

Buffy reunion details and pics!

Cast and crew members from "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" got together for a panel discussion about the show at the Paley Center in Los Angeles last night. TV Guide has some highlights:

Dark Buffy : Gellar admitted that both Whedon and Noxon had to "talk her down off the ledge" a few times during the controversial sixth season, which saw Buffy morph from a butt-kicking heroine into a dark, bitter basket case. Ultimately, Whedon agreed that the real Buffy had "been gone to long" that season.

Unsung hero : Gellar agreed with Whedon’s assessment of Kristine Sutherland (aka Buffy’s mom) being one "of the most underrated" actresses working today.

More Buffy : Whedon acknowledged that "so many stars would have to allign" in order to pull off a Buffy movie. "But," he added, "I think it would be really cool."

Buffy cast reunites!

Not for a TV show or movie or anything like that, but the cast of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" is getting back together.

Show creator Joss Whedon and stars Sarah Michelle Gellar, Amber Benson, Nicolas Brendan, Emma Caulfield, Eliza Dushku, Seth Green, James Marsters, Michelle Trachtenberg and perhaps others will participate in a reunion panel at the 25th Annual William S. Paley Television Festival in Hollywood March 20. Man, I with I could be there!

Let's hope they all get along so well that they agree to do a "Buffy" mini-series or movie or something.
