Collecting SAGA OF THE SWAMP THING #20-27, this first volume features the stories that put Moore on the comics map in the 1980s thanks to his unique narrative style and deconstructive storytelling. Created by a freak accident, Swamp Thing believed he was once scientist Alec Holland -- but when he discoveres his true nature, it shatters his universe and sends him on a path of discovery and adventure.
Featuring the art of Stephen Bissette and John Totleben, this groundbreaking work features mind-blowing, genre-defying stories starring the rich, complex character that Neil Gaiman called "The No. 1 New Classic Monster" in Entertainment Weekly.

The New York Times (THE NEW YORK TIMES!) reports on Frank Miller's latest bit of jackassery.

See one of those 1960s Superboy cartoons that's not being included in Warner Bros. DVD collection of Filmation DC Comics 'toons, likely due to the WB's squabbles with the estate of Superman/Superboy co-creator Jerry Siegel.

Efforts to save Superman house raise 40K

Newsarama reports that efforts to save the Cleveland home where Jerry Siegel co-created Superman have raised over $40,000 to date.

The first week of the month-long auction of original art from Jim Lee, Travis Charest, George Perez and dozens of others (go to http://www.ordinarypeoplechangetheworld.com and see for yourself) raised $34,459, just about three-fourths of the $50,000 needed to replace the roof and siding of the Siegel house at 10622 Kimberly Ave. in Glenville, a Cleveland neighborhood.

Toss in another $2,500 profit from those really cool Chip Kidd “Siegel and Shuster Society” t-shirts and $2,100 from donations and we‘re above $39,000. Meltzer said the donations came in the form of mostly $10 and $20 from comic fans, which made him feel good.

Here's a look at one of those groovy t-shirts, by the way. Several designs are available here.

Matthew Sweet, Susanna Hoffs plan followup album

Paste reports that Matthew Sweet and Susanna Hofs are working on a followup to their very fun collection of 1960s pop tunes, Under the Covers Vol. 1.

The second set focuses on the 1970s and beyond.

"Once we did the ‘60s covers, we started thinking we could do the ‘70s, ‘80s and ‘90s. It’s just a fun and easy thing to do," Sweet said in the interview. "So now we’ve recorded about 40 songs for a ‘70s album that I think will come out next year. It’s hard to say what will go on it, but I can tell you that “All Good People” by Yes will be on the album, and Steve Howe plays guitar on the track! That’s one of our exciting tidbits."

Flash Gordon animated

This eBay seller has a variety of cool Flash Gordon items up for bid, including storyboards and color background art from the 1980s "New Adventures of Flash Gordon" animated series.
