Details on Plastic Man Comedy-Adventure Show DVD set

From Warner Home Video:

The action-packed adventures of DC Comics' legendary superhero Plastic Man spring to life on Plastic Man: The Complete Collection, the latest animated DVD release from Warner Home Video (WHV). This full series collection will be available to consumers September 1, 2009 and will retail for $44.98 SRP. He can spring, stretch, fly, bounce and even change his shape; there is hardly anything that this superhero can't do! Joined by his girlfriend Penny and his Polynesian sidekick Hula Hula, Plastic Man travels the world, preventing the proliferation of evil. Plastic Man's adventures are quirky, offbeat and filled with slapstick humor. Classic animation fans and kids alike will love this compilation of one of DC Comics' most endearing characters. The Plastic Man Comedy/Adventure Show is based on the DC Comics superhero, which originally appeared in comic books in 1941. The original Plastic Man discovered his powers after he was sprayed with an unidentified substance that entered his bloodstream, causing a radical physical change that allowed his body to acquire all of the properties of rubber. Produced by both Ruby-Spears Productions and Hanna-Barbera Productions, The Plastic Man Comedy Adventure Show first aired in 1979 Saturday mornings on ABC, right after Super Friends.

New book looks at Will Eisner's PS Magazine work

For 21 years following his Spirit comic strip and before launching a new career as a pioneering "graphic novelist" cartoonist Will Eisner worked on PS Magazine, a U.S. Army publication focused on preventive maintenance of military equipment. Sounds dull, right? But not with Eisner involved. The result was an innovative comic-strip-oriented, graphically interesting approach to conveying information to readers--in this case, Army personnel.

It's fascinating stuff. And we civilians get a chance to take a look and learn more about this aspect of Eisner's life in a new book penned by his editor on that project, Paul E. Fitzgerald.

So far, Fitzgerald's lavishly illustrated book is only available in an autographed limited edition here, yet it looks as if a paperback edition is eventually planned. It looks great.
