Here she is: First image of Adrianne Palicki in costume as Wonder Woman

Opinions of this costume, I'm sure, will be varied and heated among fans. It's similar to a re-design by Jim Lee did for the Wonder Woman comics but, in my view, looks far better.

I don't think Lynda Carter's get-up would fly today. A glorified bathing swimsuit would come across as silly and/or sexist.

Here's what I hope: That the new TV Wonder Woman kicks ass in every respect. That she's funny, smart and tough in the Buffy sense, and that the show will prove entertaining for both men and women and inspiring to kids, in particular girls -- who need some cool heroes to look up to.

Awesome Captain Action Spidey and Captain America figures

Via MTV Geek: These are super cool. I want them and the original Captain Action pre-dates me by quite a bit. I'm of the Mego generation. The Romita-style Spidey Face and Kirby-style Cap face are fabulous, too.

other Marvel faves such as Iron Man and Thor will be heading into stores in 2012. And MTV Geek has learned exclusively that Captain Action sets for The Red Skull, Loki, and Dr. Doom are on the way as well!

New comics shipping March 16, 2011

Things I'll buy:

DOCTOR WHO ONGOING VOL 2 #2 - The first issue of this new series was quite good -- funny imaginative script and excellent, lively art. I hope they keep it up!

AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #656 - I've very much enjoyed the storylines since Dan Slott took over as solo writer of this title: He captures the Spidey spirit perfectly, blending humor and pathos and lots of Marvel lore, without being impenetrable to newcomers. My son, who hasn't been reading Marvel Comics for 40 years, loves it. And the latest arc is drawn by the fabulous Marcos Martin. Definitely one of the finest superhero comics artists working today, with an original yet somewhat Ditko-derived take on the character -- excellent sense of design. He's really, really good.

Apple Inc. seeks patent rights to Beatles' Apple Records logo

It's like comparing apples and apples: Apple Corps, the Beatles' recording and production company won two previous trademark infringement lawsuits against Apple, the computer company, essentially because the latter took the former's name and also entered created products that could create, distribute and play music, and entered the business of selling music via iTunes.

Steven Jobs reportedly named his own company after the Beatles' firm as a sort of tribute.

However, a third lawsuit ended in a legal settlement in 2007 and, as a result, the Beatles' Apple lost the rights to its logo. Now Apple Inc., the Steve Jobs' Apple, is working to secure rights to the image for use on a variety of products. It just doesn't seem right, somehow.

Yellow Submarine remake shelved

This is probably for the best:

Disney's planned remake of The Beatles' Yellow Submarine has been shelved. Oscar-winning director Robert Zemeckis had been planning a 3D performance-capture remake of the band's 1968 psychedelic classic.

Hollywoodreporter.com has quoted sources as saying that the decision to pull the project is the result of the disastrous opening of the Zemeckis–produced Mars Needs Moms film.

In the right hands, a new Yellow Sub movie could be a lovely, amazing thing. But most likely it would been hideously animated by computer and have nothing to do with the spirit of the Fabs or original film.
