Paul McCartney's dear Martha
Child of the Moon features a bunch of pics of Paul McCartney's sheep dog, which inspired the White Album tune "Martha, My Dear."
A great list of kid's books
The UK Independent asks various authors, including Philip Pullman, to name books every child should read.
I like that the list focuses mainly on British books, offering up some things American kids don't necessarily read or know about.

Elizabeth Taylor dies at 79
From the Guardian:
Elizabeth Taylor, the actor best known for her roles in Cleopatra, Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf and National Velvet died of heart failure, her spokeswoman says
Dame Elizabeth Rosemond Taylor, arguably the last great female star of
the Hollywood studio system, died today at the age of 79.
The Oscar-winning star died this morning at Cedars-Sinai medical centre in Los Angeles from congestive heart failure, according to her spokeswoman Sally Morrison. She said Taylor's children were at her side.
Dame Elizabeth, who had been in ill health for a number of years, was taken to the hospital with heart failure six weeks ago. A spokeswoman for the hospital said: "She passed away at 1.28 [LA time] this morning."

Items I'll buy:
FF #1 Yeah, I think killing off the Human Torch was a dumb idea, but I still like Jonathan Hickman's scripts and his take on these characters. Killing off characters is a gimmick and we've seen the FF minus a member or two many times over the decades, but having some decent writing behind it all makes it less annoying. And, with Hickman scripting, I actually anticipate enjoying it.
THOR #620.1 I thought the recent Iron Man ".1" issue was nicely done as a jumping-on story. I've heard good things about this book's current creative team, so I'll give it a shot.
WALT DISNEYS COMICS & STORIES #717 More vintage Duck tales.
Other items of note:
Finder Library: Volume 1
