Pop culture roundup: Beach Boys, McCartney's Ram

The Daily Beast this week posted a long, very honest look at the Beach Boys' current 50th anniversary tour and LP. It digs under the happy nostalgia and Brian-is-Back wishful thinking and provides true look at the band and Wilson's troubled history and the good-and-bad of where they are now. A fascinating look at one of music's most fascinating acts.

Pretty much everyone hated Paul McCartney's Ram LP when it came out in 1972. Now it's revered as one of his best solo releases. I just ordered the de-luxe reissue box set, which I hope to review here soon. In the meantime, the Chicago Tribune looks at how an album that once got no respect is now viewed as a pop gem (which it is, by the way).
