Pop focus: Here comes Batman 1966!

The 1960s Batman TV show finally (finally, finally, finally) arrives on DVD and Blu-ray next week.

In anticipation, here's a selection of images and video celebrating the cult series, which is obviously one of my favorites. Check the archives here and The Bat Channel for loads more pictures from the show.

Rolling Stone's mini-documentary about Big Pink and the Basement Tapes

Just posted, Rolling Stone mag and former member of the Band Garth Hudson visit Big Pink, the West Saugerties, N.Y., house where the Band and Bob Dylan recorded the famed "Basement Tapes," released this week in complete form in a new box set.

Jimi Hendrix puppet cover!

Via RecordMecca: A mint copy of Track Records' release of Jimi Hendrix's Band of Gypsies album, featuring the withdrawn "puppet" cover art. Creepy but cool!

Info:
The earliest copies of Band of Gypsys featured this cover, picturing puppets of Hendrix, Brian Jones, Bob Dylan and English DJ John Peel.  Reportedly Peel complained and the cover was withdrawn and replaced with a live photo of Hendrix.
