Beach Boys detail new album
The first new Beach Boys album in more than 20 years, featuring the reunited, surviving members of the group and produced by Brian Wilson will be out June 5, reports the Billboard.
"It's all brand new," says group member Bruce Johnson. "There's a lot of what you'd hope to hear from Brian (Wilson) on there. It's not a quilt or a pot luck dinner; it's not like, 'OK, everybody show up with your songs.' It's not one of those kind of albums. There's a lot of Brian in there, and Mike (Love). It's just nice to know there is a Mike Love and a Brian Wilson still around to write together."
Johnson said the LP "reminds me of our 'Sunflower' album, which is probably one of our least-selling albums, and some of the songs there are stunning. This album has elements, kind of, of everything. "
An Al Jardine-penned tune, "Waves of Love," features vocal parts recorded by late Beach Boy Carl Wilson, Johnson says. He adds that Brian wrote "a little suite"for the release. The first single is titled "That's Why God Made the Radio."

Reformed Beach Boys tune to debut May 1 in special Wal-Mart package
Wal-Mart: Ick. But you'll need to go there if you want an early listen to the reformed Beach Boys' remake of "Do it Again," which will be included on an 11-song best-of in something called a "commerative 'ZinePack," Billboard reports.
The package includes a 72-page magazine featuring rare photos and new interviews with Brian Wilson, Mike Love, Bruce Johnston, Al Jardine and David Marks, plus collectible postcards.
Johnston tells Billboard.com that the new version of "Do It Again" was recorded earlier this year "as, like, a warm-up exercise" as the Beach Boys prepared to work on an album of new material. "It was just something everybody knew and we could go knock it out in two hours, like a vocal warm-up exercise that's tracked," he says. "It was so easy, but it sounded really great and it went so well that we finished it and mixed it."A new Beach Boys album, with Brian Wilson producing, is due out in June.
