So long Pete Quaife -- original Kinks bassist dies
Quaife was the Kinks' bassist up through 1969 and was therefore present on most of the band's classic albums. Sorry to hear this news. There has been much discussion in recent years about a reunion of the band's original lineup and, sadly, that's no longer possible.
The original Kinks are one of my all-time favorite bands (my most favorite, if they tend to be on the stereo at the moment) and I'm sure many of my fellow Kinks fans are saddened by this news. So, let's remember Pete with one of the loveliest pop tunes ever:
