New details on release of Beach Boys' lost Smile album

We mentioned a while back that the Beach Boys' scrapped Smile album of 1967 may finally see release this year (Beach Boys leader Brian Wilson released his own, newly recorded version a few years back).

Now it looks official. Billboard reports:

Two longtime Beach Boys associates -- engineer Mark Linett and archivist Alan Boyd -- are co-producing the release, which Capitol has titled "The Smile Sessions."

The project will be released in three versions: a two-CD set, an iTunes LP digital album and a limited-edition boxed set containing four CDs, two vinyl LPs, two vinyl singles and a 60-page hardbound book written by Beach Boys historian Dominic Priore.

Of course, Brian's completed Smile took some of the edge off all this, but it's still xciting news that the band's original recordings for the album will finally see official release.

Doctor Who season 6 to air same day in UK, US

American "Doctor Who" fans with BBC America will no longer need to play the waiting game when it comes to watching fresh episodes of the series. The show's sixth season premieres April 23 in both the UK and US.

Me? I'll still need to wait, being a cable abstainer. But I'm a wait-for-the-DVDs guy, anyhow.
